Totals stay separated by measurement mode because metres, square metres, cubic metres and counts must never be added together. Confirm the governing measurement rules and item description before transferring a quantity into a BOQ.

METHOD / BEFORE MEASURING

Fix the item before the dimensions.

State the measured work, unit, location and specification first. Then record dimensions in a repeatable order and keep drawing references beside the work. A neat calculation cannot repair an ambiguous item description.

Use the deduction control only when the governing method and project convention require the opening or void to be deducted.
